Case Law: Digests

Federal Digests

The Federal Practice Digest contains citations to federal court decisions from the U.S. District Courts, U.S. Courts of Appeal, and U.S. Supreme Court. The U.S. Supreme Court Digest only contains decisions from the U.S. Supreme Court. The Decennial Digest lists citations to decisions from state and federal courts, and is published in five year blocks.

What are Digests?

Digests are finding tools organized by topic that help researchers find case law. Although still in existence, researchers use print digests less often given the availability of online databases such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, GoogleScholar, and others.

State and Regional Digests

State digests contain citations from individual state courts while regional digests correspond to regional reporters and contain case citations from multiple states or regions. Oklahoma decisions can be accessed through the Oklahoma Digest and the Pacific Digest.
