Look for the 'cite' option

  • choose APA
  • highlight
  • copy
  • paste
  • correct "Retrieved from.." statement if necessary
  • proofread! (Pay special attention to capitalization of article titles.)

Finding a DOI

Finding a DOI for a journal article (when it isn't included in the article or citation)

  • Choose "Search Metadata"
  • Search your article title (copy and paste makes it easy)

  • If the article appears in the first 3-4 on the list...
    • right click (or the equivalent) and copoy the DOI URL (
    • paste the DOI URL into your citation
  • If the article doesn't appear in the first few on the list (and your title was entered correctly), it probably doesn't have a DOI. See the instructions for finding the journal URL if required.
