Library Administration

Lee Peoples, Director and Professor of Law
Education: B.A, M.L.I.S, and J.D. University of Oklahoma (semesters at Åarhus University, Denmark and Universiteit Utrecht, The Netherlands)
Background: Professor Peoples’ research and scholarship is focused on the impact of technology on legal research, the judiciary, and the law. He has published articles, books, and book chapters on these topics. He is a co-founding editor of the Legal Information and Technology eJournal on SSRN. He teaches advanced legal research classes and is a frequent lecturer in law school classes. Professor Peoples is active in professional organizations including the American Association of Law Libraries and Association of American Law Schools. He is past president of the Mid-American Association of Law Libraries and recent past president of the Mid-American Law Libraries Consortium.

He served as the Director of International Programs for the School of Law from 2007-2010. In that position, he developed the innovative Certificate in American Law Program. Prior to his appointment as Law Library Director in 2010, he served as Associate Director, Associate Director for Faculty and Research Services, and Head of Reference Services. Before joining the faculty, Professor Peoples practiced law in Oklahoma City. He is admitted to practice in the State of Oklahoma, Western District of Oklahoma, and Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.

 

Jennifer Prilliman, Associate Director and Law Library Professor
Education: B.A. University of Central Oklahoma; J.D. University of Oklahoma; M.L.I.S. University of Oklahoma.
Background: Jennifer Prilliman’s research interests include legal information literacy and instruction, copyright law, open access, and ethics. While in law school she was a member of the Jessup moot court team, topic editor for the Oklahoma Journal of Law and Technology, member of the Board of Advocates, and received the Dean’s Award for Advocacy. She is an active member in the Oklahoma Bar Association, serving as the Co-Chair of the statewide Law Day committee. She is also a member of the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Inn of Court, American Bar Association, Vice-President of the Mid-American Association of Law Libraries and a member of the American Association of Law Libraries. She was selected to participate in the Oklahoma Bar Association 2013-2014 Leadership Academy.

Reference Services

Timothy Gatton, Head of Reference Services
Education: B.A. Cornell College; J.D. Oklahoma City University School of Law; M.L.I.S.  University of Pittsburgh School of Information Sciences
Background: Tim is a 2010 graduate of Oklahoma City University School of Law and completed his M.L.I.S. degree at the University of Pittsburgh in August 2011. While a student at Oklahoma City University, Tim was actively involved in many student organizations, wrote a cooking column for the student newspaper, and worked as a reference assistant at the law library. Tim is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries, Mid-America Association of Law Libraries (serving on the Bylaws Committee), Southwestern Association of Law Libraries, and the Dallas Association of Law Librarians.  Tim was the chair of the AALL's Social Responsibilities Special Interest Section 2014 Book Drive. Tim team-teaches Texas Legal Research for Practice, teaches in the Advanced Legal Research class, and provides guest lectures in Legal Research and Writing as well as other classes as requested.

 

Sabrina Davis, Reference Librarian
Education: B.A. University of Texas; J.D. University of Arizona; M.A. in Information Resources and Library Science, University of Arizona.
Background: As a law library fellow at The University of Arizona, Sabrina provided research and reference services, assisted with collection development and cataloging, and conducted trainings for law students, faculty, and staff. Sabrina is currently the Associate Editor of Technical Services Law Librarian and is on the Board of Editors for Legal Reference Services Quarterly. Prior to obtaining her master’s degree, Sabrina practiced family law in Tucson, Arizona for three-and-a-half years and conducted research on court reforms in child abuse and neglect proceedings as part of The National Evaluation of the Court Improvement Program.

 

Collection and Acquisition Services

Nancy Cowden, Assistant Director for Collection Services
Education: BFA and MLS from the University of Oklahoma
Experience: University of Oklahoma Law Library and University of Texas At Austin Law Library Technical Services Depts.  She is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries and Mid-American Association of Law Libraries.  She is a voting member of the AALL Government Documents SIS Grants Committe.

 

 

Kathy Broad, Metadata and Systems Librarian
Education: Bachelors of Science from Oklahoma State University; M.L.I.S from the University of Oklahoma.
Experience: Kathy started her library career with Oklahoma City University Law Library in 1996 as a cataloger. She is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries and Mid-American Association of Law Libraries.

 

 

Access Services

Jenny Watson, Head of Access Services 
Education: B.A. in English Literature University of Oklahoma ; M.L.I.S. University of Oklahoma.
Experience: Jenny began her library career working with the Interlibrary Loan Department at the University of Oklahoma. Jenny is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries, the American Library Association, and the Reference and User Services Association. Jennifer is the Layout Editor for MAALL Markings, the publication of the Mid-America Association of Law Libraries. Jennifer also serves as the Treasurer for the Mid-America Association of Law Libraries.

 

 

Susan Urban, Access Services Librarian
Education:  Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma; M.L.I.S. from the University of Oklahoma
Experience: Susan began working in libraries right here the Oklahoma City University Law Library while obtaining her MLIS at the University of Oklahoma. Before coming back to OCU, she worked as a Reference Librarian in an academic setting and as a public librarian. Susan is a member of the Oklahoma Library Assocation, American Library Association, and the Mid-America Association of Law Libraries.

 

 

 

Bill Wakeham, Library Assistant
Bill has worked at Oklahoma City University Law Library for 16 years. In May 2014, he was named OCU's Employee of the Month. Bill has a Bachelor's degree from Oklahoma City University and is a teacher at Putnam City West High School.

 

 

 

 

Tyler Dohrn, Library Assistant

While obtaining a B.A. in Psychology from Newbury College, Tyler worked as a student circulation assistant for four years. After graduating, he went on to work within the Oklahoma County Metropolitan Library System before coming to the Oklahoma City University Law Library.
