Support for Program Development

The librarian for your subject is ready and eager to help you identify current library resources, open access resources, and potential additions to the collection to support your existing, modified or new courses and programs.

Just reach out! Email, make an appointment, or drop by during librarian office hours.

Support for Online Course Links

  • Links are better than uploading content
    • complies with copyright/licenses rules
    • tracks usage statistics so that the library can see the value in our subscriptions
    • familiarizes students with interfaces for more content
  • Linking is easy
    • Most library databases include a stable URL or permanent link option to add library resources directly in D2L
    • Some databases have embed codes for direct inclusion in D2L
    • most open access content can be linked too

New Program Form Signatures

The library director needs to review and sign new program forms before they are submitted to the Curriculum Committee. In some cases, this will include a discussion of how to fund additional library resources needed to appropriately support the program.

  • discuss any new courses with the subject librarian
  • email the completed new program form to [email protected]
  • call or visit to discuss the program information and budget needs for the new program
  • the library director will add information about budget, sign the form, and forward it to the instructional technologist for review

Please allow about a week before the deadline if possible. If the proposal is not yet finished, the director can begin review on an incomplete proposal.

New Course Form Consultations

New Course forms ask about library resources and a librarian consultation. Please reach out!

Librarians will want to discuss the information needs of students in the proposed class and the library resources available to them. They can provide a list of resources that are available or a plan for using monograph budgets in your area to meet new needs.  If additional funding is needed, this will need to be discussed with the library director.
