LAB-rary 2013: Civility, A Discussion in Honor of Professor J. William Conger: Panelists

Valerie Couch

   Valerie K. Couch ushered in a new era in Oklahoma City University School of Law’s history on April 9, 2012, when she became the 12th dean of the law school.  She is the first woman and the first federal judge to move into the leadership role at the school.Before coming to Oklahoma City University School of Law, Dean Couch served as United States Magistrate Judge in the District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.  She was appointed to the federal bench in 1999, where she served for more than thirteen years and presided over a wide range of criminal and civil matters.  She also has a wealth of experience as a civil litigator in private practice.  For sixteen years, Dean Couch was a trial attorney with the Oklahoma City firm of Hartzog Conger & Cason, P.C..

André Caldwell

André B. Caldwell is an associate in the litigation and trial practice group in Crowe and Dunlevy's Oklahoma City office. Prior to joining Crowe & Dunlevy, Mr. Caldwell gained experience at the Western District of Oklahoma U.S. Attorney’s Office as an assistant U.S. attorney assigned to the Violent Crimes/Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force. Mr. Caldwell received his Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2008, where he received the Just Desserts Award, awarded to one student who made the college of law a better place. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and government from Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C.

Drew Neville

Drew Neville is a partner at Hartzog Conger Cason and Neville. His practice is focused in the area of business litigation, with emphasis in federal securities litigation. Mr. Neville was a partner of Linn & Neville law firm from 1976 to 2000. Mr. Neville is a frequent speaker on various trial related topics and has authored many articles on trial practice. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court; United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth, Seventh, Tenth and Eleventh Circuits; numerous federal districts across the nation, and the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

Paul A. Lacy

Tony Lacy is an Assistant Federal Public Defender for the Western District of Oklahoma. He was previously in private practice in Oklahoma City from 1981 until 1995. Mr. Lacy was the 2006 recipient of the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association's Clarence Darrow Award for zealous criminal defense advocacy and the 2006 Oklahoma County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association's Barry Albert Award for excellence in advocacy. Mr. Lacy received his B.A from Oklahoma City University in 1978 and his J.D. from Oklahoma City University in 1980.
